Hong Kong / Destination guide

Hong Kong.

Harbour energy. Lantau horizons.

Begin with the Ngong Ping 360 cable car for a broad view of Lantau Island, then explore the plateau at your own pace. Choose the cabin before comparing prices, and keep the day flexible for weather.

Our suggestion: 3–4 hours

Plan the sequence

Hong Kong in one or two days

Treat the cable car as the start of a Lantau visit, not a stand-alone commute. These suggestions leave room for queues, visibility and time on the plateau.

Half day

Ride up, explore, then return

Travel from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping, walk through the village and choose one or two nearby cultural landmarks. Keep enough time for the return queue and the final service of the day.

Choose your cable-car cabin

Full day

Give Lantau its own day

Add a longer walk or another Lantau stop only after checking transport and closing times. Avoid placing a fixed evening reservation immediately after the cable-car journey.

Poor visibility

Keep the mountain plan flexible

Cloud, rainstorms or thunderstorms can change the views or suspend service. Check the official operating update before leaving central Hong Kong and follow staff instructions at the terminal.
