History of King Power Mahanakhon

King Power Mahanakhon was conceived as a mixed-use tower in Bangkok’s Silom–Sathorn district. Its distinctive recessed façade appears to spiral around the building, creating the irregular, pixel-like profile that now marks the city skyline.

The tower opened in 2016, and the rooftop observation experience followed in 2018. Today the visitor route links digital displays and the indoor observation room on floor 74 with the open-air 78th-floor rooftop and glass tray.

Why visit Mahanakhon SkyWalk?

The attraction gives two different ways to read Bangkok: a sheltered 360-degree view from the 74th floor and a more exposed rooftop perspective from the 78th. The official route also identifies landmarks through interactive displays, which can make the visit useful near the start of a Bangkok stay.

The glass tray adds a distinct height experience, but it is not the only reason to go. Visitors who prefer to stay indoors can still use the observation room as the main event, while photographers can plan around late-afternoon light and the transition into the city’s evening skyline.

Tickets and entry options

Ticketory currently lists a core observation-deck product and a drink-package variant. Both product pages include the 74th-floor indoor room, 78th-floor rooftop, 4th-floor SkyVerse and 78th-floor glass tray. Some categories add a sunset digital photo; only the drink package explicitly adds a soft drink on the 74th floor.

Read the category name at checkout because extras are conditional. A digital photo is included only when a qualifying sunset ticket is selected, and the drink or I-Tilt is included only when that category says so. Neither product is presented here as a guaranteed queue bypass.

Ticket price

Prices vary by date, time and selected package. Use Ticketory’s live dated total for the reseller option, and compare it with the official ticket channel before paying. This guide does not freeze a converted reseller price because exchange rates and category availability can change.

The official King Power Mahanakhon home page displayed SkyWalk prices from THB 500 to THB 1,200 when checked on 12 October 2026 and notes that price varies by time. Treat that as a dated official range rather than a promise for every visitor or time slot.

Opening hours

The official home and location pages listed Mahanakhon SkyWalk as open daily from 10:00 to midnight, with last access at 23:00, when checked on 12 October 2026. Another official tower-information page still showed an earlier 19:00 closing, so confirm the dated ticket calendar and any notice for your day rather than relying on a single static page.

Outdoor features such as the glass tray may close in rain, strong wind or other unsafe conditions. A ticket time does not guarantee that the rooftop will remain open in unsuitable weather. Arrive early enough for security and the lift, especially if sunset is the priority.

Getting to King Power Mahanakhon

The simplest public-transport approach is the BTS Silom Line to Chong Nonsi Station, using Exit 3 for direct access to the complex. The official address is 114 Narathiwas Ratchanakarin Road, Silom, Bang Rak, Bangkok.

BRT Sathorn Station is another nearby option. The official location page also lists buses 15, 16, 34, 77, 162 and 187. Road traffic can be slow and unpredictable, so rail is usually the safer choice when your ticket has a fixed time.

What to look for

Begin with the indoor 360-degree observation room on floor 74 and use the interactive displays to identify the city below. The official visitor route then continues to the rooftop level, where The Peak reaches 314 metres and gives an open-air view across Bangkok.

The glass tray sits on floor 78 at about 310 metres. Shoe covers are required, and phones, cameras and other loose objects must be kept away from the glass. Photography is permitted from the designated photo area rather than while holding a device on the tray.

Practical tips

Check visibility as well as rain: a dry but hazy day can still hide distant landmarks. If you want both daylight and night views, choose a time with enough margin before sunset, but expect that popular period to be busier.

Wear secure, comfortable shoes for the rooftop route. Keep loose objects inside your bag before approaching the glass tray, follow staff instructions and do not plan the visit around a rooftop drink unless your chosen category explicitly includes one.

  • Save the voucher offline before travelling.
  • Use BTS Chong Nonsi Exit 3 rather than allowing road traffic to control a fixed entry time.
  • Make the 74th-floor indoor room your fallback if weather closes the rooftop.
  • Confirm every conditional extra on the final dated ticket category.

How long to spend

Allow about 90 minutes to two hours for the indoor room, SkyVerse, rooftop and a relaxed view. The Ticketory product pages describe one to two hours as typical; the longer end suits sunset, photographs or a drink stop.

Add time for security, lifts and the walk from the BTS station. If the rooftop is temporarily closed and you are content with the indoor view, the visit may be shorter. Do not place another timed attraction immediately afterwards.

Visiting in winter

December and January sit within Thailand’s cooler season, but Bangkok remains warm: the Thai Meteorological Department’s 1991–2020 normal data for Bangkok and vicinity place average daytime maximums around 31.8°C in December and 32.3°C in January. Carry water and sun protection even when mornings feel milder.

The cooler season is also a popular travel period. Reserve a preferred sunset category early if it matters, but keep weather expectations realistic: haze can affect long views, and outdoor access still depends on conditions. A light layer may help after dark on a breezy rooftop, while the indoor level remains air-conditioned.
