History of the Petronas Twin Towers

Designed by César Pelli, the twin towers were completed in 1998. Their 88 storeys rise roughly 452 metres above Kuala Lumpur, ending in stainless-steel pinnacles. The project became a defining feature of the city’s modern skyline.

The Skybridge is part of the engineering story as well as the visitor route. Its supporting structure accommodates movement between the towers rather than treating them as a single rigid building. Looking at the connection from outside before your visit helps you appreciate the structure once you are inside.

Why visit?

Come for the experience of being inside the twin towers, not simply for the highest possible viewpoint. Moving from the bridge to the observation deck changes your sense of scale: streets, neighbouring buildings and the wider city become a different landscape from above.

If you mainly want a photograph of both towers, make time at ground level as well. A viewing platform inside a landmark cannot replace a view of its complete silhouette. For a second skyline experience, compare the setting and platforms at KL Tower before paying for two visits.

Tickets and entry options

The two standard options below are separated by visitor eligibility. They are not different viewing heights. The non-Malaysian admission option explicitly includes tower entry, the Skybridge and level 86; do not assume that optional transfers or priority services mentioned elsewhere on a booking page are included in standard admission.

Check the selected date, visitor category and confirmation instructions before paying. Keep the issued ticket available offline and carry the identification required for your category. If travelling as a mixed-nationality group, select the correct admission for each person rather than applying one category to everyone.

Ticket price

As checked on 12 October 2026, the operator lists normal general-admission adult prices of RM127 on weekdays and RM137 on weekends, for ages 13–60. These are official reference rates, not a promise of the total charged by a reseller. Malaysian, child and senior categories have separate rates.

For a Ticketory booking, use the final total for your date and all travellers. Currency conversion and the selected package can change the comparison. Check the age rules carefully when booking for young children and review the cancellation conditions before payment; do not assume a timed ticket can be moved later.

Opening hours

The published schedule is Tuesday–Sunday and public holidays, 09:00–22:30, with last admission at 21:30. On the second, fourth and fifth Mondays, the listed hours are 09:00–20:00, last admission 19:00. Holiday exceptions apply; the dated 2026 calendar lists 19 October as closed.

Use your confirmed time rather than arriving whenever the building is open. Be at the entry point at least 15 minutes early. Allow additional time to find check-in, especially if this is your first visit to the complex. Recheck the calendar before travelling.

How to get there

Travel to KLCC station on the Kelana Jaya LRT line and follow the Suria KLCC signs. The tower visitor attraction is on the lower ground level. Once you reach the complex, follow signs for the tower visit and your ticket’s instructions rather than joining a queue for a different attraction.

Suria KLCC identifies its main entrance facing Jalan P. Ramlee as a taxi and Grab drop-off point. A road arrival still leaves an indoor walk to check-in. Build that into your arrival buffer and avoid scheduling a tight connection from an airport or another fixed-time activity.

Highlights of the visit

The Skybridge is the defining stop: the double-level structure connects the towers at floors 41 and 42. Follow the route opened to your group rather than expecting unrestricted access to both levels. Pause to notice the scale of the neighbouring tower as well as the streets below.

Level 86 supplies the higher panorama. Give yourself time to look in several directions instead of spending the whole stop composing one photograph. Afterwards, viewing the towers from outside adds useful context to what you have just seen; keep that walk separate from your timed indoor visit.

Practical tips

Pack lightly: personal items are screened, and food, drinks, chewing gum and smoking are not permitted during the visit. Have your ticket ready before reaching the front of the line. Leave meals and drinks for before or after the viewing route.

Visitors using a wheelchair should contact the operator before travelling to arrange the visit around their needs. For photos through glass, switch off your flash and try a position away from bright reflections. Keep bags close and leave room for other visitors at the windows.

Average time to allow

The standard Ticketory product lists approximately 45 minutes for the experience. Our planning suggestion is 75–90 minutes at the complex once early arrival, check-in and finding the exit are included. Travel time is additional, and queues can alter the overall allowance.

Keep the next part of your day flexible. A meal and an outdoor walk can turn this into a relaxed half-day in KLCC, but they are your own additions. Do not treat the viewing time as a guaranteed door-to-door duration or book another attraction immediately afterwards.

Winter tips

A December–February visit calls for tropical-weather planning. Malaysia’s climate has relatively uniform temperatures, high humidity and substantial rainfall, so a European-style winter packing list is not the right model. Bring comfortable shoes, light clothing and a compact rain layer for journeys outside.

Keep a light extra layer for indoor comfort and leave room to change the order of your outdoor plans if it rains. The enclosed viewing areas provide shelter, but clouds can still reduce visibility. If the skyline is your priority, consider the forecast when choosing a date; a ticket does not guarantee clear views.
