Sweden / Destination guide

Stockholm.

Island walks. Living Swedish history.

Start with Skansen’s historic houses and Nordic zoo on Djurgården, then leave time for Stockholm’s waterfronts and old streets. Give outdoor visits their own daylight window and keep cross-city plans relaxed.

Skansen visit

Our suggestion: 3–4 hours

Plan the sequence

Stockholm in one or two days

Choose one main island or neighbourhood for each part of the day. Skansen rewards a generous block of time rather than a short gap between other bookings.

Half day

Give Skansen the morning

Begin with the historic houses, then choose animal areas or gardens according to your interests. Leave room for a break and the journey back.

Plan your Skansen visit

Two days

Separate Djurgården and the old town

Keep Skansen as one day’s anchor. Use another for a slower walk through Gamla Stan and along the water instead of repeatedly crossing the city.

Winter

Put outdoor stops in daylight

Choose an early arrival, carry warm layers and keep an indoor alternative for poor weather. Check your exact visit date before planning a seasonal evening.
