History of the Euromast

The Euromast was built for the 1960 Floriade horticultural exhibition. Architect H.A. Maaskant and contractor J.P. van Eesteren created a maritime landmark whose name linked Europe with the familiar image of a ship’s mast. Its elevated viewing structure became part of Rotterdam’s post-war architectural identity.

In 1970 the addition of the Space Tower extended the landmark to 185 metres. The experience has continued to evolve: the present Euroscoop combines a rotating ascent with light, music and city stories, while the tower retains its recognisable mid-century profile.

Why visit the Euromast?

The strongest reason to go is orientation. A view across Rotterdam helps connect the riverfront with the city’s changing scale; afterwards, a walk at street level feels less like a collection of unrelated buildings. Make it an early-trip visit if understanding the layout is your priority.

Choose your pace before your height. The platforms suit people who want time to look, compare directions and take photographs. Euroscoop adds movement and a glass-floor element, making it a different experience rather than simply more of the same view. If your group has mixed feelings about heights, discuss the upgrade before booking.

Tickets and entry options

The two Ticketory options share platform admission, the Magnicity web app and The Rise of Rotterdam immersive experience. Choose the explicitly labelled Euroscoop option to include the rotating ride; the platform-only option should not be treated as admission to the top.

These products are sold with skip-the-line wording, but allow time for entry checks and lift queues. Meals, overnight stays and abseiling are separate plans. Read your voucher for any time-slot confirmation or redemption steps before travelling.

Ticket price

Euromast uses prices that vary with age, date, time and ticket type. On 12 October 2026 the official ticket page listed general admission from €13.50 for adults and ages 12+, €12 for seniors and €10 for ages 4–11; ages 0–3 were free. These are starting rates, not a guaranteed quote for your preferred slot.

Compare the live Ticketory total for the entire group and check that every person has the intended level of access. A lower headline price may cover only the platforms. Read the cancellation conditions for the channel you choose, and budget separately for refreshments or parking.

Opening hours

The official visitor FAQ currently lists daily opening from 09:30 to 22:00, checked on 12 October 2026. Confirm the dated booking calendar for your visit, especially during holidays or special events, and leave a comfortable margin before closing.

Euroscoop can pause because of weather or technical conditions even when the platforms remain accessible. If the ride is the main reason for your visit, check its status close to departure and read your ticket’s arrangements for disruption.

How to get there

Head to Parkhaven 20, 3016 GM Rotterdam. The tower is beside Het Park and the Parkhaven waterfront. Enter that full address in your journey planner so the final walk ends at the entrance rather than elsewhere along the river.

The venue recommends planning public transport through 9292; tram, metro and water-taxi approaches are possible. Check the live route from your starting point rather than relying on an old tram number. For drivers, paid parking is available opposite along Parkhaven; Q-Park Schiecentrale is approximately a ten-minute walk away.

Highlights of the visit

The Rise of Rotterdam provides a ground-level introduction before the view. The viewing platforms then put the city’s river and built landscape in context. Take a slow circuit rather than photographing only the first outlook, and revisit a favourite direction if the light changes.

The Euroscoop reaches 185 metres with a rotating panorama, music and a light show. Its glass floor can become transparent; if that feels too intense, the official experience allows you to make it opaque with a button. Choose this extra for the ride itself as well as the higher viewpoint.

Practical tips

The 100-metre platform and restaurant are wheelchair-friendly, but Euroscoop is not; the platform railing can also limit seated views. Confirm your party’s needs before buying the upgrade. Children under 16 must visit with an adult, and assistance dogs are allowed while ordinary pets cannot go up.

Save the voucher on your phone and keep the screen bright for scanning. Pack so you can handle tickets without putting belongings on a ledge. If you want a sit-down meal, make the restaurant reservation separately and leave enough room around your sightseeing time.

  • Look at visibility as well as the chance of rain.
  • Keep the Euroscoop decision separate from meal plans.
  • Give your group a meeting point before spreading around the platforms.

Average time to spend

The operator suggests about an hour without a restaurant visit; the Euroscoop ride itself takes roughly seven minutes, with a possible queue. Our practical allowance is 60–90 minutes so you can enjoy the view without racing to your next reservation.

Allow longer if photography, the immersive introduction or a meal matters to you. Pairing the tower with a flexible park walk is easier than placing another timed attraction immediately afterwards. On a day trip, calculate the return journey separately.

Winter tips

For a winter visit, bring a wind-resistant outer layer, gloves and footwear suited to damp paths. Decide whether daylight detail or the illuminated skyline is more important, then check the sunset time for your specific date before selecting a slot.

Keep a flexible indoor plan for poor visibility or a suspended ride. A short winter day rewards a compact itinerary: visit the tower, take a nearby walk if conditions are pleasant and leave the longer riverfront exploration for another day. Check the current holiday calendar instead of assuming last year’s seasonal events will repeat.
